Common Door and Window Problems and Solutions

In daily life, doors and windows are frequently used, and various problems often occur due to long-term wear and tear, which not only affects the appearance, but also affects the comfort and safety of living.

Door and window leakage problem----leakage is a headache.

There are three main reasons:

The sealing strip is exposed for a long time, which is easy to age, harden or even break, causing the sealing function to fail and rainwater to seep in from the gap;

When the window is installed, the gap between the window frame and the wall is not sealed in place, and the sealant is unevenly applied or too thin, giving rainwater an opportunity to take advantage;

If the drainage hole is blocked by dust and debris, rainwater cannot be discharged and will accumulate in the window frame and flow back.

The solution is as follows:

If there is a problem with the sealing strip, it is necessary to replace it with high-quality weather-resistant strips in time. It has good aging resistance and elasticity, which can extend the service life of the seal.

For the gap between the window frame and the wall, it can be re-sealed with high-performance sealant. First clean the debris in the gap and then apply it evenly.

When the drain hole is blocked, use a thin wire or toothpick to carefully clean it to restore the drainage.

For prevention, it is recommended that the owner check the rubber strips and drain holes every quarter and deal with the problems in time. Be sure to choose a professional team to install doors and windows, and carefully check the sealing between the window frame and the wall after installation.

Deformation of doors and windows

Deformation of doors and windows will affect normal opening and closing and damage the sealing.

The reasons include poor materials, such as wooden doors and windows with too high moisture content, which are easily deformed by shrinkage and swelling due to temperature and humidity; aluminum alloy door and window profiles are not thick enough and strong enough, and they will also deform due to long-term external forces such as wind pressure and gravity.

In addition, doors and windows may be squeezed or not firm during installation, and may be affected by external forces such as vibration during use, which may also cause deformation.

If the deformation is minor, it can be improved by adjusting hardware accessories such as hinges and locks, such as adjusting the tightness of hinge screws and changing the position of door and window sashes.

If the deformation is serious, the parts need to be replaced. Wooden doors and windows can be repaired or replaced by carpenters, and aluminum alloy doors and windows need to be replaced with profiles that meet quality standards.

To prevent deformation, pay attention to the material when purchasing. For wooden doors and windows, choose wood with a moisture content that meets the standard. For aluminum alloy doors and windows, check the thickness and strength parameters of the profile. Ensure that the doors and windows are firm during installation, avoid external force extrusion, and try to maintain stable indoor temperature and humidity.

Problem of loose sealing of doors and windows

Loose sealing will reduce the indoor sound insulation and heat insulation effect, and will also allow dust and mosquitoes to enter.

The main reason is that the sealing strip is of poor quality, easy to age, harden and lose elasticity; the strip is not installed in place during installation, there are distortions and gaps; the door and window frames and sashes are not accurate enough, the size deviation is large, and they cannot fit tightly when closed.

When solving the problem, first check the strip. If it is damaged or falls off, replace and reinstall it in time to ensure that it fits the edge of the door and window frame and sash flatly.

If the problem lies in the coordination between the door and window frame and the sash, you can adjust the hinges and locks to fine-tune the position of the door and window sash.

You can also paste sound insulation and heat insulation sealing strips in the gaps to enhance the sealing effect.

To prevent poor sealing, close the doors and windows when purchasing to feel whether there is air flow, or use a paper strip to test the suction of the gap. During installation, the installer is required to follow the specifications to ensure that the strips are firmly installed and the gaps between the door and window frames are even and tight.
